Tom has served as an Assistant State's Attorney for Montgomery County for the past seven years. For the past four years he has been the Team Leader for the Bethesda community prosecution team. He has prosecuted cases in the District and Circuit Courts. He is a member of the Family Violence Unit, serving as a domestic violence prosecutor and developing extensive experience in regulated firearms enforcement. He is a member of the Maryland Bar and the American Bar Association. He is also a member of the Montgomery County Bar Association and the past Chairman of the Professionalism and Quality of Life Committee.
He serves on the Criminal Justice Behavioral Health Initiative, working with state and county service providers to find innovative solutions for incarceration of those with mental illness. He is also a member of the Pre-Release Center's Advisory Board, ensuring the successful and responsible reintroduction of inmates into the population.
During the Clinton administration, Tom worked with the U.S. Department of State, Office of Inspector Generals, Office of Counsel as an attorney advising on criminal and foreign policy matters. He attained a Top Secret security clearance and received the Franklin Award for his service.
Tom also teaches. He was previously an adjunct professor in the Washington College of Law's legal writing program. He is currently an adjunct professor in Montgomery College's Paralegal program. He is also President of the Montgomery County Collaborative Advisory Board for Law, Government and Public Safety. This coordinated effort between the private sector, Montgomery College and Montgomery County Public Schools seeks to bring relevance and rigor to an integrated educational experience for all students.
He has been active in the Democratic Party, serving as a Democrat's for the 90's delegate, a member of the Young Democrats, working on races for Statešs Attorney, Congress, and the Governor. He is a precinct chair and a member of the District 19 Club's Executive Board.
He also served as the Vice President of his home owner's
association, Olney Oaks. Tom and his family are members of St.
Peter's Catholic Parish in Olney. |
